Meet Your Therapist
Bette Jo A. Toppin, M.Ed., LMHC, C.Ht.

Good Day!
My name is Bette Jo A. Toppin, I am a Licensed Mental Health Clinician in the State of Massachusetts with over 18 years of experience in caregiving and easing lives. I am a proud graduate of Cambridge College with a Master of Education and Psychology. Outside of private practice, I am a Bariatric Patient Ambassador and now work as a women’s group facilitator at a local hospital for individuals that have had bariatric surgery. This population has changed my life significantly and became a supportive facilitator for My Hungry Heads, in which is a bariatric wellness program in emotional eating. I have experience treating children, adolescents and adults from diverse backgrounds with various mental health needs including depression, anger, anxiety, grief, PTSD, ADHD, behavioral problems, LGBTQ, low self-esteem, substance abuse, relationship issues, and parenting concerns. I have training in copious treatment modalities, but my favorites consist of Strength Based, Family Parts Therapy, Cognitive- Behavioral Therapy, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy. To further assist my clients who struggle with trauma, addiction, pain, and life-traps, I received my credentials as a Certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.
Fun fact, I engage sessions with humorous approach with my quirky wit, laughter, and the ability to make healing less painful and more empowering to my clients. Afterall, this is about “Soulful Healing” right?
I believe in developing a therapeutic alliance with you to instill hope, provide empathy, genuineness, and acceptance; positive self-regard is of importance for client and therapist relationship. I meet my clients where they are to assure the normalcy with distress in healing and transition, while creating an environment conducive for healing and growth, that is mutually agreed upon. I look forward to walking beside you through out your journey, behind you to catch you if you should stumble taking your first steps, and in front of you as your beacon of light while you walk forward in your journey while protecting you from uncertainty and fear. Together, we will climb mountains to seek the best version of yourself and then laugh about it!
